Motion Capture Helmets for "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" Movie

Weta Digital commissioned Human Dynamo Workshop to manufacture the custom fitted helmets worn by the actors to create scenes for “ Dawn of the Planet of the Apes”. The special effects movie will be in theaters 11 July 2014. 

The Helmets are lite weight Carbon Fibre. Made from 3D scans of the actors heads. To fit exactly.

We also made clear plastic custom face masks to enable acuate placement of the motion capture dots for the face. These mask had holes drilled into them to allow correct placement of the dots, for successive days of filming.
